On September 29, 2024 Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be having a special stage event during the Tokyo Game Show. Discussions regarding the forthcoming title and the most recent development updates will be covered by the star-studded panel.
The PlayStation 5 game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is slated for release in 2025. Characters from the first game will return in the future release, including Troy Baker, Lea Seydoux, and Norman Reedus. Along with Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna, Mad Max co-creator George Miller and Turkish film director Fatih Akin’s likenesses are also expected to make an appearance.
(hopefully some gameplay!)
According to the official statement, “Visionary game creator Hideo Kojima, and Daichi Miura, singer-songwriter and official supporter of Tokyo Game Show 2024, will be joined by a number of guests, including Nicolas Winding Refn, to discuss the upcoming title.” It follows, “Attendees will be given a front-row seat to the latest updates in the development of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.”
The legendary Hideo Kojima had this to say on X (Twitter), “Looking forward to seeing you with our gorgeous guests on stage. The stage will be Sunday, the last day of the show. And it’s not in the evening as usual, but the stage will be the first thing in the morning that day!”

According to the official announcement, the first Death Stranding was launched for the PlayStation 4 in 2019 and later ported to the PC and PlayStation 5. High praise was bestowed upon Kojima Productions’ debut title, which went on to win Best Game Direction at The Game Awards 2019, PC Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards 2020, and Outstanding Technical Achievement at the 23rd Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.
Wicked’s Take
Realizing I never finished the first Death Stranding does not change the fact that it was a very enjoyable game for the time I did sink into it. The last thing I remember, I had made it to the top of some snow covered mountain before more than likely I was distracted by another game. Late to the “Kojima Train”, my first introduction to his work was with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. To this day, one of my Top 5 favorite games of all time. And if you’ve played it, you’ll know that game had me sold within the bizarre first 10 mins of its cinematics. So after the beautiful mess that was MGS 5, Death Stranding had me foaming at the mouth with its twisted take on a strange new world. Some may say it was a “glorified walking simulator”, but I would have to stop them right there and say “no”. You see this is an introduction to the Amazon delivery driver training program, and ill be honest God Bless those Amazon drivers because lately I’m hearing s#%t at 4am only to realize they have these poor souls delivering my Scrub Daddy’s at the ungodly hour while also ducking and dodging the mutated raccoons that infest my neighborhood.
So yeah I’m pretty hyped for Death Stranding 2.
